In the last few years, there have been a lot of changes to the things that cars have. A remote control car starter is one of the best things about it. Not all cars come with this feature, but a remote control starter can be added to almost any type of car with only minor changes. The remote starter is controlled by an electronic key fob that you can easily put on your key ring. The most obvious benefit of having a remote starter is that you don’t have to go outside to start your car. However, having a remote starter also gives you a number of other great benefits.

Good for the Engine

When it’s cold outside, driving without warming up the engine can be hard on the engine. When you warm up the engine, the oil also warms up. This makes the oil flow better through the motor. It is especially important to warm up diesel engines in older cars and trucks. You can warm up the engine before driving by pressing the start button on the remote control. This works whether you are leaving for the day or going home after a long day at work.

During the cold winter months, I’m sure you’ve heard the sounds your car makes when you start it up and drive away. Even though you can get in and drive when the engine is cold, it sounds a lot better after it has had a chance to warm up. It’s kind of like when you work out and need to warm up your muscles before getting your heart rate up.

Security and Safety

One of the best things about a remote car starter is that it lets you start the car without leaving the keys in it. This makes the car safer and less likely to be stolen. It also makes driving safe in the winter when snow or ice is on the windshield. Set the defrost before you start the car, and the snow and ice will be gone before you get out. This means you won’t have to scrape the windows and you won’t have to drive with poor visibility because you didn’t have time to scrape the windows before you drove.

When I lived in downtown Columbus, Ohio, having one of these in my car was a real blessing because I didn’t have to stand around in the cold to deal with the frost on my windows. Even though Columbus isn’t a particularly dangerous place, you never know when someone who wants to hurt you is waiting around to do so. Better safe than sorry is a good motto to always follow.

Pre-Cool or Pre-Warm the Interior

One of the best things about a remote car starter is that it lets you get into a warm or cool car. During the cold months, just leave your heater on, and by pressing the start button in the morning, you can start warming up the inside of your car before you even get out of bed. During the hot summer months, this idea can be used to cool the inside. When you leave the air conditioning on, you can start the car and get into a cool car. This is especially nice in cars with leather seats, which can burn your skin after being in the sun all day.

Obviously, if you already have a garage, you probably don’t need it for this. When I first moved to Dallas, there was no covered parking at my apartment complex. Those summers were very hot, and since my car has leather seats, it was even worse. So, you can bet that when that lease was up, I started looking for a new place to live with a garage. I told UMoveFree that I needed a garage more than anything else, and they found me a great Las Colinas apartment with a garage.

Boost That Resale Value

If you live in an area where the weather changes a lot, a remote car starter may make your car worth more when you go to sell it. Installing a remote starter on your car might be one of the least expensive changes you can make, but it will still help you sell it, whether you are selling it to a private person or trading it in at a car dealership. If you didn’t buy your car with a remote starter already installed and are thinking about getting one, there are many styles and price ranges to choose from. Most remote starters are easy to install yourself, or you can have a local mechanic do it for you.

These are just some of the reasons you might want to add a remote starter to your car. Once it’s set up, I think you’ll also like how convenient it makes your life.

I was wondering how these would help, and I liked what you said about how you can cool or heat the car before you get in. If you live in a place with crazy weather, it would be great to be able to get into a warm, comfortable car. Thanks for the article, which was very helpful.

My husband and I are thinking about getting a newer model car with a push-button key. I like that you say these cars are safer because of the button. As you said, I’ve been worried about leaving the keys in the car while it warms up, so being able to start the car from far away would definitely solve that problem.

Deborah Adams 11 March 2019, 4:49 p.m. Thanks for pointing out that remote car starters can help keep your car safe from thieves because they let you start the car without leaving the keys in it. I’ll tell my husband about this because he always leaves important things in his car. He said that sometimes he forgets to take his laptop with him when he goes to his car. I’ll be happy to let him know that he can have a remote car starter put in. This will give him peace of mind.
