Towing your car is expensive if it breaks down. AAA has a service that helps drivers all over the country when they get stuck on the road. They can be a great way to cut down on or get rid of the cost of towing, but there are some rules about how far they will go and how much they will cost.

Here’s what will happen when you call AAA!

AAA Towing Policy

When you call the customer service number on the back of your AAA membership card, AAA will tow your car. If your car won’t start or can’t be driven safely, AAA will take it to a place that can fix it.

You can have your car towed to the nearest AAA-approved repair shop, or you can have it towed to your home.

You can have your car towed from your home or office to a garage, or from one repair shop to another. The only limit is that you can only have your car towed once per breakdown.

If you call around and decide to have it towed to your house and then to a garage, the first tow to your house is free, but the second one will cost you.

AAA will tow you from anywhere, as long as it’s in the area where AAA works. If you are a member of AAA Plus RV or AAA Premier, you can also call for a tow for your motorcycle, trailer, or RV. AAA will get you and anyone else who is with you a ride and make sure you get to a safe place.

Depending on the plan you choose, you may also get free fuel and free delivery. They also have a service for mobile batteries that can keep you from needing a tow. One free car rental is also part of the Premier package. This is not an option for the other membership levels.

How Far Will AAA Tow Before Charging?

How Far Will AAA Tow

Depending on the package you buy, AAA will tow your car for free up to a certain distance. There are different membership levels, and each one comes with a certain number of services and a certain number of miles of free towing.

Your car can be towed to any nearby repair shop that is approved by AAA.

AAA can’t have your car towed to just any shop for repairs; it can only do so to approved shops. You could also have it towed to the nearest AAA-approved independent contractor station.

Here are the different levels of membership and some of the things that come with them.

1. AAA Classic

With the Classic membership, your car can be towed up to 5 miles from where it broke down before you start getting charged. At this level, you can have up to four service calls per year.

2. AAA Plus Level and AAA Plus RV

With the Plus Membership, you can get free towing for up to 100 miles. At this level, you can make up to four service calls a year.

3. AAA Premier

The Premier package lets you tow for free up to 200 miles. It also lets you call for service up to five times a year.

Once you’ve gone over the number of free miles that came with your package, you’ll be charged the standard fee for towing in your area. Some businesses give AAA members discounts, but this isn’t always the case.

The average cost of a tow by AAA is between $3 and $10 per mile. But this rate can be different in different places.

Another benefit is that you don’t have to pay the hookup fee because it is already covered by the free miles.
