What Is the Cause Mazda 6 Airbag Light Flashing?

1. A Depleted Airbag Backup Battery

Sometimes, a low battery could be the reason your airbag light keeps flashing. A car battery can die at any time. If you notice that your car’s battery is dead, it means that it may also have killed the backup battery that powers the airbags.

In some cases, the battery will charge itself and the problem will go away on its own. If this isn’t the case, then the backup battery will need to be charged and the sensor will need to be reset.

2. A Faulty Sensors

Keep in mind that your car has a lot of different sensors that connect to different parts. These sensors connect directly to the car’s computer system so that you can see and hear if there are any problems. People sometimes get into accidents and the airbags don’t work or are tripped. This makes the airbag warning light up.

3. A Damaged Airbag Clock Spring

Remember that the job of the airbag clock spring is to keep the driver-side airbag and the electrical wiring of the car connected.

This is how it works: As you turn the steering wheel, the airbag clock spring moves in and out. Because of this, it can get worn out over time, which could cause airbags to not work properly or connections to not work well.

4. Wet Airbag Module

If your car has been in the water before, this could have damaged your car’s airbag module, which is under the passenger or driver seat.

The shorting out or corrosion could make it not work right, so it might not work at all.

It doesn’t matter whether the airbag light is flashing by accident or because of one of the most common reasons. The airbag warning light was put there for a reason.

Check your airbag system and sensors as soon as possible if the light turns on.

Meaning Of Mazda 6 Airbag Light Flashing Code 22

The code 22 means that your car’s safing sensor output is short to your car’s battery voltage. Code 23 means that the safing sensor input feed of your car return circuit is open, and code 24 means that the output feed of your safing sensor is open, as well.

You should know that it’s important for you to know all these codes so that you can get the airbag repair service you need.

Will Disconnecting Battery Reset Mazda 6 Airbag Light Code 22?

Most of the time, all you need to do to get rid of this light is to reset your airbag sensor.

If you want to reset the airbag sensor, you can just remove the terminal clamp and let it be disconnected for about 5 to 10 seconds.

Finally, you can connect the battery terminal and turn on your car. Do this, and the light will stay off.

Mazda 6 Airbag Recall

In the past, Mazda North America Operations has recalled some of their cars, like the 2006 to 2007 Mazdaspeed6, the 2003 to 2008 Mazda6, and the 2004 MPV cars.

All Mazda owners will get a letter from the company. Dealers will change the front passenger air bag inflator with a different inflator. To make sure you know, we’re going to do this for free.

A lot of other things could cause airbags to not work:

There is not enough battery power in the backup battery for the airbag in your car

Having a lot of bad sensors

A broken airbag clock spring

This part of the airbag is wet

Mazda 3 Airbag Light Flashing

During an accident, your car will show you a light on the dashboard that blinks when the airbags don’t work.

Whenever this light is on, it shows that your airbags aren’t being used at all.

This also means that when you get into an accident, they won’t work right.

Mazda 3 Airbag Module Reset

You can reset the SRS light in a number of ways, and in each of them, you might have to do more. Here are some, in order from simple to a little bit of a pain:

Turning the ignition key from “Off” to “ACC” for about 10 times will make the car start.

The owner’s manual has a list of the fuse numbers. You can look them up there.

For about 10 minutes, disconnect the negative battery cable. Then connect it again.

However, if you do this and the light keeps coming back on, you should see a qualified mechanic for help.

Mazda Cx-5 Airbag Light Flashing

As a reminder, only if your car’s airbag/seat belt pretension system warning light is flashing and the front of the passenger airbag off indicator light is going on. This can only happen if the sensors have a possible malfunction.

It won’t work right when this happens to you. The front passenger-side airbags and the seat belt pretension system won’t work right when this happens.

Mazda 5 Airbag Light Codes and their meaning

Code 12 means that your battery voltage is very low, and code 13 means that the airbag circuit is shorted or grounded. You should pay attention to these two codes.

The code 14 tells you that the short or ground is on the primary crash sensor circuit, so you need to fix that first thing.

It’s important to check your car’s airbags for damage if you get a code 21. You can tell by code 22 and code 23 that the safing sensor input feed or return circuit is not closed.

Code 24 tells you that the output feed is open, so you can read it. There are problems with the airbags on both the driver and passenger sides. Codes 32 to 35 deal with these problems.

Codes 41 to 45 are about the problems with the RH and LF primary crash sensors and how to fix them. Keep in mind that airbag diagnostic codes can go up to 53, so be careful.

You should know that it’s important for you to know all these codes so that you can get the airbag repair service you need.

Conclusion

It doesn’t matter if the airbag light is flashing by accident or because of some common causes. The warning light is there for a good reason, no matter what.

It’s there to tell you if there’s any danger, so get your airbag system and sensors checked as soon as possible.
