Mercedes Benz is widely considered to be one of the top automotive manufacturers in the world. Mercedes-S Benz’s Class saloons use cutting-edge technology that is at least a decade or two away from widespread use in commercial vehicles.
The high cost of replacement parts is the only downside to Mercedes vehicles that comes to mind. Newer models can be quite expensive, and they don’t get any cheaper with time, as my 1988 S Class taught me. For the key fob, however, there are a number of cost-cutting measures that can be implemented.

Most Mercedes Benz models and generations are covered by Amazon’s key fob and uncut fobs, which are available for purchase.
It can be tough to find the proper key, therefore I’ve gone through the items and discovered two replacements that are compatible with the majority of Mercedes models. A replacement key with the same programming will need to be found by checking what code your old key was, which may be difficult if the product doesn’t identify model years.
You can get a replacement key from Auto Key Max for roughly $30, which is less than a tenth of the price you’d pay at your dealership. They also provide a discount on a pair.

Customers have given this key fob a 3. 3/5 star rating and the maker has responded to a reasonable number of questions. Customers’ unrealistic expectations are the primary cause of the negative rating. Complaints can be summed up as follows. Nobody, not even a locksmith or a dealership, would program the key I purchased.
A real concern, but unrelated to the key fob in question. Once the items have been reviewed, I’ll discuss the primary issue with the aftermarket key fob.

The Problem With Aftermarket Key Fobs
Mercedes Benz has made it nearly impossible to do business with them without their help. It is impossible to program their key fobs at home, by an unauthorized mechanic or locksmith, and authorized dealerships will refuse to do so, forcing you into purchasing an OEM key. It is possible to get a copy of your normal blade key by taking it to a locksmith with a blank.
So, why am I advocating Amazon alternatives if I can’t even get them to work properly?
It’s possible to find a locksmith in your area who can reprogram your key.

According to one of our customers from Texas, six locksmiths were unable to help them. The key was programmed for $150 by a mechanic who specializes in antique Mercedes. It was still less than half of what an authorized dealership would charge if he had paid only $192 for a fob, $70 for a cut blade key, and $169 to have it programmed.
Saving a few hundred bucks isn’t a trivial matter. Although paying a mechanic $150 to $200 to program your vehicle may seem excessive, keep in mind that they must pay Mercedes Benz a fee in order to obtain the appropriate codes. Considering that Amazon’s keys cost $30 and come with a blade key, the dealership’s price of over $200 seems illogical.
If you can’t locate a locksmith who can program the key fob for you, your only option is to go through the dealership to obtain a new. It is possible to save money on a key by purchasing simply the key from Amazon and bringing it to a locksmith.
