The all-new 2019 Honda Monkey and the 2019 Honda Super Cub show that Honda can do classic. And that they care about animals as well.

Honda’s New Classic Lineup

The old is now cool. Scramblers and classic cars with teardrop-shaped gas tanks are in style again. In the “classic” section, brands like Triumph, Norton, and Royal Enfield have a strong hold. But this isn’t just a British thing. Ducati, Yamaha, Husqvarna, and just about everyone else is trying to cash in on the trend of new bikes that look like they’re from the past. So how could Honda’s smallest bike stay without its classic brothers and sisters?

At Rs 2.40 lakh, the price of the Royal Enfield Classic 500 Pegasus Edition

The European market got a new Jawa 350 Special. Will India get one soon?

The Grom isn’t alone. Two new models are ready to join the group, and they are just as animalistic as their names suggest. Soon, both the Honda Monkey and the Honda Super Cub will be available in the United States.

2019 Honda Monkey

The Grom is a modern version of the monkey bike. It has been on the market for a few years. The success of the small bike meant that the original Monkey should come back, and it’s almost here.

Style ideas for the Monkey came from the Z50, which was made from 1967 until last year (2017). Back in the day, the Z50’s small size made its riders look like our ancestors, and the name “monkey” quickly stuck to the bike itself. Instead of trying to erase the funny name from history, Honda took it as a compliment and gave the new model the name “Monkey.”

Even though the old bike wasn’t very big or powerful, it was a marvel of engineering for its time. The 50cc 4-stroke engine had 4.5hp and a semi-automatic 3-speed transmission.

The parts that make the new one work come from the Grom. So, it has the same 125cc, 4-stroke, air-cooled, fuel-injected, 9hp motor as the Grom and the same 4-speed manual transmission. But even though it only has a small amount of power, it has upside-down front forks and disc brakes on both ends. But the Grom’s single shock has been changed to a pair to keep its vintage look. In the same way, the fuel tank and the high exhaust port still have the shape of the old monkey.

It has a digital dashboard, LED headlights with Daytime Running Lights (DRL), and ABS.

Monkey Price

The Honda Monkey will go on sale in the US later this year as a 2019 model. The ABS model will cost $4,200. A $650 price increase on top of the Grom’s $3,550 price is crazy! Since it’s basically a Grom on the inside, it shouldn’t be that expensive for the most part. But the cute way it looks makes me wish it would make it to the Indian market one day.

2019 Honda Super Cub

2019 Honda Super Cub

The Super Cub, like the Z50, first came out in 1958 with a 50cc engine and is still being made in some form or another. Like the Navi, this one will make you wonder if it’s a scooter or a motorcycle. The engine is where it would be on a motorcycle, and the wheels are 17 inches, which is a good size. But the underbone chassis has an apron that is bolted to it. Wierd? Huh! Not like the Bajaj M80, which did well for the company in terms of sales.

Semi-Automatic Gear

The 2019 Super Cub, like the Monkey, is counting on nostalgia to get people’s attention. But it’s not just stylish enough to be worth the price. The 125cc engine with 9hp is the same as the one in the Monkey, but this bike has a semi-automatic 4-speed transmission instead. That is, there is no clutch lever, but there is a shifter to move through the gears. The brakes on the front wheel are disc brakes with ABS, but the brakes on the back wheel are drum brakes. It’s a good mix of old and new!

Super Cub Price

The Super Cub has LED headlights, turn signals, a digital dash, and a system that lets you start the bike without a key. Compared to the mini scrambler, the price of $3,600 seems fair, given all the features.
