The French-Japanese Alliance, which owns most of Mitsubishi, has shown off a new 1.3-liter Turbo gasoline engine. This engine is made in collaboration with Daimler, the company that owns Mercedes-Benz. Small turbocharged engines are getting more powerful. The International Engine of the Year award went to Ford’s 1.0-liter Ecoboost engine.

The 1.3-liter gasoline engine will have three levels of performance and will go into Renault cars starting in 2018. This engine may also be used by partners like Nissan, Mitsubishi, and Mercedes. This engine should be put into the next Mercedes A-Class.

It is said that this 1.3-liter turbo engine will replace Renault’s 1.2-liter TCe engine, which is 10 years old. The French car company says that the new engine offers “significantly improved driving pleasure with better torque at low rpm and greater and more constant availability at high rpm, while reducing fuel consumption and CO2 emissions.”
