At one time, India’s favourite SUV was the Honda CR-V. There wasn’t anything else like it on the market that could be driven like a sedan and used like an SUV. But as the price of gasoline kept going up, people stopped buying the CR-V. At the 2018 Auto Expo, we expect to see the brand-new 5th-generation Honda CR-V. Last year, the 5th-generation Honda CR-V was shown off in Detroit.
Now, Honda is planning to bring the updated 2018 CR-V to India, and it will have a Diesel engine. The new CR-V is better because it can now fit seven people. A 1.6-liter Diesel engine with 160 PS of power and 350 Nm of torque will power the new Honda CR-V. This engine is made at Honda’s Tapukara plant in the Indian state of Rajasthan. At the moment, this engine is being sent to Thailand, where it is used to power the brand-new CR-V, which is available in both 2WD and 4WD versions.

The company hasn’t said for sure when the diesel-powered CR-V will be available in India. But, they did mention about doing a premium segment launch next year. This makes us think that they are talking about the new CR-V.

The new CR-V has a Shift-by-Wire 9-Speed Automatic transmission that is paired with a 1.6-liter diesel engine. In the Thai market, this combination promises a great fuel economy of 18.9 km/l. Honda will probably use the same 2.4-liter engine that was in the last CR-V for the Petrol version. This engine has a power of 190 PS and a torque of 226 Nm.

The biggest change inside is that there are now 7 seats instead of 5 seats. The dashboard has also been changed, and soft-touch plastics are used a lot. As with all new cars, it has a touchscreen display with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto so that you can sync your phone. The dashboard of the SUV is a lot like the dashboard of the new Civic. On the list of features are remote engine start, climate control with two zones, an electric parking brake, and front seats that can be adjusted electrically.
