2017 BMW 5-Series is lighter, powerful, and technologically advanced than before
We already told you that the 2017 BMW 5-series was brought to India to test. The new 5-Series has finally been shown to the public, and it looks like BMW has a winner on their hands. As you might have guessed, the new 5-Series is based on the most recent 7-Series. You might think that a lot has changed on the outside, but wait until you hear what has changed on the inside. It is made of lighter materials, has new engines, more technology, and uses less gas.
The side of the car has a hockey-stick shape like the 7-Series, and the LED adaptive headlights blend into the Gaping kidney grille. The aggressive shoulder line from the last car is still there, but with a small change. The 3-Series was a big influence on the back of the car, especially the LED tail lights. And all of them come with two exhaust tips as standard.

As part of BMW’s EfficientDynamics upgrades, the kidney grille now has active shutters that improve the way it moves through the air. According to the company, these changes also help reduce lift at higher speeds. BMW says that the new 5-Series is up to 62 kg lighter than the previous model. This has been done by using metals like aluminium and magnesium along with high-strength steel. Even though the car is smaller and lighter than its predecessor, it is now longer, wider, and taller than its predecessor. When you think about how much more powerful the new engines are, the new 5-Series should drive very well.
When you step inside, you’ll notice a number of changes, like the 7-Series-like gesture control, iDrive 6.0 infotainment unit, voice control, heads-up display, and new multi-contour massage seats. People also say that the interiors are quieter than ever because they use a lot of materials that block out noise. For music lovers, the car will also come with an optional Harman Kardon 600-watt, 16-speaker sound system.

This package includes radar cruise control, lane departure warnings, and help staying in your lane. Some of the time, the car will be able to steer around certain obstacles. The car will have features that make it easier to park, such as a 3D surround view and the ParkNow service for reserving parking spots.
From February 2017, the company will start selling the new 5-Series 530i, 540i, and 520d in Europe. In March of the same year, more engines will be added. The 2017 BMW 5-Series is set to come out in India in the second half of 2017.

530i has a 2.0-liter, 4-cylinder gasoline engine that can make up to 252PS of power and 350Nm of torque at its most powerful. It has an automatic gearbox with 8 speeds called “Steptronic.” 6.2 seconds to go from 0 to 100 km/h.

540i has a 3.0-liter, 6-cylinder gasoline engine that can make up to 340PS of power and 450Nm of torque at its most powerful. It has an automatic gearbox with eight speeds. 5.1 seconds to go from 0 to 100 km/h.
The 520d has a 2.0-liter, 4-cylinder diesel engine that can make a maximum of 190PS and a maximum of 400Nm of torque. You can choose between a 6-speed manual transmission or an 8-speed automatic transmission. 7.7 and 7.6 seconds to go from 0 to 100 km/h.
530d has a 6-cylinder, 3.0-liter diesel engine that can make 265PS of max power and 620Nm of max torque. This engine is paired with an automatic transmission with 8 speeds. 5.7 seconds to go from 0 to 100 km/h.
A plug-in hybrid electric drive system is connected to the 530e iPerformance’s 2.0-liter, 4-cylinder gasoline engine. The power output is 252PS, and the torque is 420Nm. A 8-speed automatic box takes care of the transmission. 6.2 seconds to go from 0 to 100 km/h.
A 2.0-liter, 4-cylinder diesel engine in the 520d EfficientDynamics Edition makes 190PS of max power and 400Nm of max torque. 7.5 seconds to go from 0 to 100 km/h.
The M550i xDrive has a 4.4-liter, V8 gasoline engine that can make up to 462PS of power and 650Nm of torque at its most powerful. The engine is paired with an automatic gearbox that has 8 speeds. From 0 to 100 km/h in 4 seconds.
