Toyota has put the updated Etios Liva and Etios on sale for Rs. 5.24 lakh and Rs 6.43 (ex-showroom, Mumbai). Etios Platinum and Liva Platinum are the new names for cars with new looks.

The front ends of the 2016 Etios siblings have been changed. The larger air dams on either side and the V-shaped grille with chrome accents make the front of the car look more sporty. Near the lower air dams is where the fog lamps have been put. On the back, the taillights are changed a little, the bumper is reshaped, and chrome accents are added to give the car a new look. Now, the design of the alloy wheels looks much more sporty.

The inside of the sibling of the Etios is also being worked on. It gets a new console for the instruments and better seats with new upholstery. Also, there is now an armrest in the middle of the back seats.

Toyota has made the Etios series safer, and the changes aren’t just for looks. ABS is now a standard feature on all Etios Platinum and Etios Liva Platinum models. The ISOFIX child seat mounting points on the back seats make them safer for children. Not only that, but the car is also stronger where it hits the side.

The engines in both cars are still the same. When it comes to the gasoline version, the Etios has a 1.5-liter engine that makes 90PS of maximum power and 132Nm of maximum torque. The Etios Liva, on the other hand, has a 1.2-liter engine that makes 80PS of maximum power and 104Nm of maximum torque. Both the Etios and the Etios Liva have a 1.4-liter diesel engine that can produce a maximum of 68PS of power and a maximum of 170Nm of torque. All of the different kinds of Etios have a 5-speed manual transmission. But something new is going on under the hood. For better shock absorption, the rubber engine mounts have been switched out for hydraulic mounts. Also, the suspension and clutch have been tweaked a bit.
